In this short video, listen to the comments shared by team members on the Avatar video game.

The project is yet to be titled, and Ubisoft say that they now aren't even discussing specifics such as genre, but it is going to be a triple-A title that releases on both PC and console. The company isn't yet saying when it will ship the game. First of all, they mention that they're using the SnowDrop engine that powers The Division.

According to the announcement, Massive and Lightstorm are working together to expand the universe and give players the freedom to learn about the world of Pandora in new ways. They plan on doing a not-so-sequel follow-up to the 2011 game they released based on James Cameron's 3D movie of the same name.

Above: A scene from The Division shows the realism of the Snowdrop engine. This engine is created to allow the creation of ultra-realistic game universes, enhanced with dynamic global illumination, incredible real-time destruction and gorgeous amount of detail and visual effects. Ubisoft developers say they are in awe of the game and it's a "fantastic and humbling experience" to create a game based on the film.

You'd certainly think a game featuring Halo style hardware and a planet full of Final Fantasy-looking aliens would've have had a huge influence on games, but it's had none at all.

Ubisoft did say that this untitled Avatar game will be available on consoles and Windows 10 PCs.

Ubisoft was also behind 2009's Avatar: The Game. Ubisoft is working with the film studio 20th Century Fox on the project. It's likely the Avatar game is in its earliest stages of development. And this time, Ubisoft is going all-out.

He was impressed bythe group's passion for the Avatar's project and Massive's Snowdrop engine. There hasn't any confirmed released date yet for the new Avatar game but the production is set to underway this year.
