An escaped inmate is back in custody after leading Webster Parish authorities on a high-speed chase that ended after the escapee's pickup went airborne before landing on a auto, according to a report from KSLA-TV.

Around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Kevonte Dekorey Austin, an escaped work-release participant, was taken into custody after the pickup he was driving went airborne before crashing, reported KSLA.

Following a police pursuit, a black Toyota Tacoma truck went airborne after running over spike strips and crashed ending the chase.

KLSA reports that the truck landed on top of a parked Toyota Corolla - with a woman seated inside.

"I felt around to see if I was hurt and could tell that I was okay", Barbara Harlon said to KSLA. Deputies eventually deployed spike strips.

As the deputy and the driver were talking outside of the Toyota Tacoma truck, Austin slid into the driver's seat and sped off, according to KSLA. "God was with me".

The man, Kevonte Dekorey Austin, 18, led police on a chase to that reached speeds of up to 115 miles per hour.

Check out pictures of both the Tacoma and what was left of Harlon's vehicle - along with Mr. Austin's mugshot - at KSLA. Austin had reportedly escaped prison, and the truck was stolen, so when his companion stepped out of the vehicle on the officer's urging, Austin bolted.
