EricHolder Holder: Obama Will Be Back, Joining Redistricting Efforts

Not content with producing the worst economy in American history - and spreading the wealth around in the wrong damn direction - former US president Barack Obama is apparently ready to reenter the political arena.

Holder, who serves as chairman of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee in a role Obama asked him to assume a year ago, said the former President could potentially help that organization by fundraising or interacting with state legislators.

"He's ready to roll", Holder told reporters at a briefing.

After his brief time-off, Obama is said to be gearing up to re-enter the political realm, according to a report in Politico. Voting districts are redrawn after a federal Census to reflect the changes in population and other demographic. The concept is better known as "gerrymandering".

Holder launched the NDRC in January with a focus on addressing issues with gerrymandering and creating new electoral maps to boost Democratic representation.

Mr Obama asked Mr Holder to head that committee past year.

Search continues at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital
He also cited hospital staff as saying in the past that there were leaking roofs and other structural problems in the building. The Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital will be operating as normal on Friday, the Gauteng provincial government said.

Democrats have also set their sights on challenging Jeff Sessions, President Donald Trump's attorney general. He added that the decision to throw out a challenge to voter laws in Texas was "disheartening".

Organizing for Action (OFA), which is run by former Obama aides and campaign staffers, has already garnered $40 million in donations and opened 250 offices around the country.

Holder said he had discussed Obama fundraising for the NDRC and interacting with state lawmakers on the group's behalf.

"It's coming. He's coming", Holder told members of the media. "It would be good to have the Justice Department on our side ..."

"This is really a battle for our democracy", he added.

"The notion that people are denied their ability to cast a meaningful vote ... is inconsistent with who we say we are, inconsistent with what we say our democracy is about".
