While discussing this year's buzzy horror film Get Out - about an African American photographer (played by United Kingdom native Daniel Kaluuya) who has a white girlfriend - Jackson suggested that he thinks the role should have been given to a US actor.

Jackson is clarifying controversial statements he made about black British actors starring in American-made movies. "I tend to wonder what would that movie would have been with an American brother who really feels that". It may surprise many to know that the actor who plays the photographer, Daniel Kaluuya, is British-you can hardly tell in the movie.

Jackson denied having implied that black British actors are stealing African-Americans' roles, while also pointing out that opportunities for African-American actors to work in the United Kingdom are far fewer than the other way around.

"Some things are universal but [not everything is]".

Jackson also pointed to Ava DuVernay's "Selma", which starred David Oyelowo as King. Jackson, who by some accounts is the actor with the highest grossing box office figures of all time, said that films about African-Americans enduring racism would have benefited from having American leads.

"They don't cost as much. And they [casting agents and directors] think they're better trained, because they're classically trained".

"Everybody needs to work, but there's a lot of brothers that need to work, too", he concluded.

The 68-year-old's original statements were met with swift backlash, namely from "Star Wars" actor John Boyega, who is British.

Jackson continued: "All I was trying to say is that they have an opportunity to come here to the U.S.to portray characters that relay similar experiences to an audience that are not particularly theirs", he explained. "Unless you're an unknown brother that they're finding somewhere", he replied. We're not afforded that luxury.

Speaking about his British counterparts, he added: "I enjoy their work".

"I think there's something about the stage, because they have that stage preparation".

Jackson made the comments when he was asked his thoughts on a new movie titled "Get Out" about an interracial relationship. "A stupid (expletive) conflict we don't have time for", he wrote. The "Kong: Skull Island" star brought up the broader trend of using Brits to tell poignant American stories in light of the popularity of "Get Out" during a radio interview.
