Two officers had been injured on the scene, say police, including one that had been stabbed on his arm, and two more who were injured on their legs after being chased around by the knifeman.

Police stormed a block of flats today in Wolverhampton after a knifeman stabbed and killed a woman leaving another fighting for her life.

A police officer received minor injuries after the attack was interrupted.

West Midlands officers used stun grenades to break into the property in the Merry Hill area of Wolverhampton after getting a call around 9.45am.

Another woman, believed to be in her 50s, is in hospital with critical stomach wounds.

The police were forced to use stun grenades as they stormed the flat this morning about 09:45 GMT.
