Ali was in Washington addressing members of Congress about the impact of President Trump's travel ban.

Ali's attorney confirms he was detained for 20 minutes at a Washington, DC airport today as he attempted to board a flight to Fort Lauderdale.

Muhammad Ali Jr, and his mother Khalilah Camacho-Ali participate in a forum about immigration enforcement with Democratics in the House Visitors Center at the US Capitol on 9 March.

Mancini accused the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of trying to cover up the incident by downplaying it.

The mother and son have said in interviews that they believe they have been stopped because they are Muslim with Arabic names.
