On Saturday, several Iranian military officials and diplomats discussed the conflict in Syria with Russian counterparts, after dozens of U.S. Tomahawk cruise missile strikes on Thursday targeted the Shayrat Airfield near Homs, Syria.

The death toll from the air strikes in Urum al-Joz was expected to rise, said the Observatory, a Britain-based organization that reports on the war using a network of sources in Syria.

A Syrian air base targeted in a US cruise missile attack is operating again, the governor of Syria's Homs province confirmed on Saturday.

Early on Friday morning, the USA military fired 59 Tomahawk missiles at the Shayrat air field in response to a suspected chemical attack this week that has been widely blamed on the Damascus regime.

The Syrian government has strongly denied responsibility and says it does not use chemical weapons.

Canada trade dispute threatens livelihood of dairy farms
He said the state is contacting all milk processors across Wisconsin and in other parts of the country to assist Wisconsin dairy farmers impacted by Grassland's decision.

US President Donald Trump's decision to launch missiles at the airbase marked a dramatic departure from the more cautious approach of his predecessor Barack Obama.

"We view that the responsibility of the United States is still great, and does not stop with this operation", it added in a statement, warning that the Damascus government and its allies could commit "acts of revenge" against civilians.

Rebels support such strikes and everything that can reduce the power of the Syrian air force, he said.

The US said the missiles targeted radars, aircraft, and air defence systems and destroyed around 20 Syrian planes, but said the runway was intact.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), now controlling parts of it.
