A giraffe gave birth on camera; it wasn't April

Tracy Craig | 10 April, 2017, 02:26

Her beau Oliver appeared very concerned as he watched her and kept peering over the top bar of his pen to get a better look at the long-necked beauty who will deliver his first baby.

The world has been waiting on April to have her calf at Animal Adventure Park in NY.

Most births occur at dawn, Animal Adventure Park said, but not all of them. Just one week ago, her keepers excitedly declared her birth was imminent.

According to a recent update of the animal park, after days of only picking at grain and hay, April has regained her appetite.

April the giraffe is still very much pregnant. Regarding the calf's gender, Animal Adventure Park said their ultrasound equipment could not determine if April the giraffe will be having a boy or a girl. "Our team reached out to the Zoo and we were able to agree on a sponsorship immediately". "We sure it's not on a loop?" another said.

Richard Sherman rumors: Corner asked Seahawks for a trade
Maybe they'll get a somewhat high pick and a decent player who is a malcontent or a colossal headache. Sherman had an outburst at Pete Carroll on the sidelines during a game in December this season.

The zoo began live-streaming the giraffe on February 23 and the giraffe has gained worldwide attention as several thousand people watch daily, hoping to see the birth. This is the zoo's first giraffe calf.

Watch the live stream here.

Last week, Patch, the park's owner, told ABC's "Good Morning America" that "April has progressed significantly overnight and, by all means, today is not the day to stop watching". And it's almost as many as the 33 million who viewed the Oscars this year. Tonight I made a decision to have a little pep talk with April to see if we could try to nail down a day, week, month or any sort of time frame...

Even though April the Giraffe fans are starting to wonder if she'll ever give birth, we've been rest assured that she's not in distress and she's not even late in giving birth. Let's just hope she doesn't keep us waiting until May or later! On their official Facebook account, Animal Adventure Park assured subscribers that they will be notified once the labor process finally begins and that messages sent through this service will be reserved for significant content and updates only.

April's popularity led to a sponsorship from Toys "R" Us, which has long featured the fictional "Geoffrey the Giraffe" as its mascot.
