The former National Football League player pleaded not guilty in the MA trial.

Not guilty! After a lengthy trial, Aaron Hernandez was found not guilty of a 2012 double-homicide outside a Boston nightclub.

The decision comes two years after another MA jury found the former National Football League tight end guilty of murdering an acquaintance in an industrial park near his home in June 2013.

He's already serving life in prison in the 2013 death of a man who was dating his fiancee's sister. "They want you to say he's a celebrity, he's different from us", Baez told the jury in his closing argument.

The 2015 conviction cemented a spectacular fall from grace for Hernandez, who once had a $40 million, five-year contract with the Patriots. He described Hernandez as a "very good young man who happened to hang out with a very bad guy in Alexander Bradley".

Bradley testified that Hernandez became enraged after de Abreu bumped into him while dancing, spilling his drink at a Boston nightclub.

The Leafs had nine players making their National Hockey League playoff debuts in Game 1, but didn't look like it early. Making the playoffs just once over the past 11 years, the Maple Leafs became the laughing stock of Canadian NHL teams.

Except for a weapons possession count, Hernandez was found not guilty of all charges associated with the double murder, including witness intimidation.

Conley said Friday that prosecutors would not go after Bradley in the killings because they believe they already charged the right person.

The former tight end for the New England Patriots wept quietly as the verdicts were read in Boston.

The jury also acquitted Hernandez of shooting at three of Abreu's and Furtado's friends: Aquilino Freire, Gerson Lopes and Raychides Gomes-Sanches.

Entering Friday, jurors have been deliberating for more than 32 hours. I have the utmost respect for the Jury and thank them for their service but simply disagree with the verdict reached. The entire Boston Police Department expresses our sincerest condolences to the families of the two victims, Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, whose lives were lost in a senseless act of violence.

The seven women and five men of the jury began deliberating April 7.
