Trump says US-Russia relations 'may be at an all-time low'

Saul Franklin | 17 April, 2017, 05:48

Russian President Vladimir Putin used a meeting with visiting U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday to give his views on why U.S.

Tillerson and Lavrov spoke to the press after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow in an extended display of U.S.

Only weeks ago, it appeared that Trump, who praised Putin throughout the US election campaign, was poised for a potentially historic rapprochement with Russian Federation. But any such expectations have been dashed amid the war in Syria and ongoing USA investigations into Russia's alleged interference in America's USA presidential election.

"It may be just the opposite".

And Putin said the same thing on Wednesday, particularly that trust between the U.S and Russian Federation has eroded.

Mr Tillerson's trip to Moscow comes just days after a USA air strike on a Syrian airbase, mounted in response to a chemical attack on a Syrian village, which is widely blamed on the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a Russian ally. "Once more, this vote could have been the moment when Russian Federation saw that its interests do not lie with a murderous dictator, but rather with the many countries in the worldwide community, including those across the Middle East, that want to end this conflict". But he said Wednesday the USA doesn't have "firm information" to show that Russian forces were involved in the gas attack.

He added that the reign of the Assad family is "coming to an end, and they have brought this on themselves".

Misogyny certainly contributed to electoral loss, says Hillary Clinton
Clinton urged Trump to develop a strategy for ending Syria's civil war that was consistent with American values. Hillary Clinton said that the United States of America should take out the Syrianair force completely.

All security issues from NSA leaks patched in current software
Security experts hope that as more information come out about the leaks, Microsoft will have already released fixes and patches. But the organisation said that the local messaging systems of some Swift client banks had been breached.

Lavrov blasted US claims that it has "irrefutable evidence" of election interference.

"We have reiterated our position and were united in stating that the attack was an act of aggression, which blatantly violated the principles of worldwide law and the UN Charter", Lavrov said.

What Americans - especially those who believe team Trump is somehow in cahoots with the Russians - now know for sure is that Trump is openly saying the relationship, which he leads, is awful. "No one showed us anything, no one said anything, although we repeatedly asked to produce the details on which these unfounded accusations lie". "We hope that the USA president will become aware of that analysis", he said Thursday.

Two days after, the United States launched 59 cruise missiles against the Shairat military base in central Syria, where from, according to the USA, airplanes carrying chemical weapons took off.

Russia, along with Iran, is Assad's key supporter in the six-year Syrian civil war against rebels supported by the United States and Turkey. "I think it's very bad for mankind", Trump said.

Trump said during an interview on Fox Business Network this week that "Putin is backing a person that's truly an evil person" in his relationship with Assad.

Britain, France and the United States put forward the measure in response to the suspected sarin gas attack in Khan Sheikhun on April 4 that left 87 dead, including 31 children.
