Man countersues Trump, says he urged Ky. protesters' removal

Cross-claim submitted after violence at Trump campaign rally Trump claims he's immune from lawsuit over inciting violence at rallies

Lawyers for President Donald Trump are arguing he should be immune from a civil lawsuit that alleges he encouraged supporters to rough up protesters at a campaign rally in March 2016.

The lawyers add that if Bamberg is found liable, Trump or his campaign should be held equally to blame "because Trump and/or Trump campaign urged and inspired Bamberger to act as he did".

The Washington Post reports that that Alvin Bamberger, 75, who was seen in a video pushing a protester 21-year-old Kashiya Nwanguma during a rally in Louisville, Ky., said he "would not have acted as he did without Trump and/or the Trump Campaign's specific urging and inspiration", Bamberger's lawyer wrote.

They seek damages from two Trump supporters, Trump's campaign and the president himself for allegedly inciting violence at the rally by shouting "get 'em out of here!"

Three people who claim they were assaulted at the Trump rally filed a lawsuit past year against Trump, his campaign, Heimbach and Bamberger.

Earlier this month a federal judge in Louisville said in a ruling that then-candidate Trump incited the use of violence against the protesters. Trump could be heard saying "get 'em out of here" from the stage at that rally.

But Trump's attorneys argued in a response to the suit that while he said "Get them out of here", he was not directing his comments to the crowd.

They denied that Trump was urging the crowd to take action by repeatedly saying "get them out of here".

Pence also wrote that Bamberger admits he touched the woman, but did not "assault" her.

"Bamberger had no prior intention to act has he did", the attorneys wrote.

In that response, attorneys for Trump asked that the lawsuit be dismissed and the president be awarded costs, expenses and attorney's fees.

The veteran previously apologized for the events that unfolded at the rally in a letter to the Korean War Association, whose uniform he wore at the rally. "I physically pushed a young woman down the aisle toward the exit, an action I sincerely regret".

Trump's team responded Friday to their lawsuit in federal court, saying the protesters waived their right to sue by buying tickets to the event.

In court documents, Trump's attorneys said their client is immune from the suit because he is President.

Also being sued is Matthew Heimbach, a leader with the white supremacist group Traditional Youth Network in Paoli, Ind.
