New photo celebrates Princess Charlotte's second birthday

Elaine Woods | 15 May, 2017, 18:15

It looks as though the duchess may have handed her daughter a picture book in order to keep her sweet while she poses for the picture, the Daily Mail reports.

Charlotte appears to have inherited her mother's glossy hair genes, with her sun-kissed, brunette, shoulder-length locks neatly brushed and pinned to the side in the photograph.

The new official photograph of Princess Charlotte.

Kensington Palace said they "hope that everyone enjoys this photograph of Princess Charlotte as much as they do".

Charlotte's hair, grown noticeably longer, looks from the picture to have turned from dark blond to nearly reddish brown (although that could be the lighting) and is pinned back with a blue ribbon clip.

And while fans hadn't seen new pics of Charlotte since December, the royal family made a decision to release a new royal portrait of the 2-year-old one day ahead of her special day.

The Cambridges will be spending more time at Kensington Palace in London when William leaves his air ambulance helicopter pilot job in the summer and devotes more time to royal duties. The BBC reports the family is expected to throw a party for the birthday girl. What a wonderful way to celebrate the princess's b-day! It's not surprising that Kate took the official photo to mark Charlotte's second birthday on the protected grounds of the family's country estate. She is also known as Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.

The little princess's birthday will be spent at home "privately" where there will be a family celebration.

To mark the special occasion, keen photographer Kate has shared a portrait of her daughter that she took herself.

Making another appearance on Christmas day at church, Charlotte matched her mom's burgundy outfit in a navy coat paired with maroon tights and a dress.

Kensington Palace might not share every detail of the royal family's lives with us, but when they decide to grace us with a new picture, they don't disappoint!

"They've got everything any child could ever want and - unusually for the Windsors- they've got two parents who completely and utterly dote on them", the palace insider explained.

Apparently, some are already feting the little princess, who will be a bridesmaid in her aunt Pippa's wedding later this month.
