Nintendo Switch Voice Chat Controversy

Due to their hardware being considerably underpowered compared to its competition and, no matter what you say, Sony and Microsoft are Nintendo's competition, it is understandably hard and time-consuming for developers to bring a game to Switch. However, that doesn't mean the console is without its issues, particularly in relation to online functionality. In other words, Nintendo wasn't going to roll out a lesser version of the product if it didn't have to. Since then developers have embraced the massive technical capabilities of consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that are now both emphasising 4K as the standard to which games should be played.

Doug Bowser, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing at Nintendo of America, said, "This year Nintendo will see a constant flow of great games on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS, with more on the horizon that feature some of Nintendo's most beloved characters". Those include voice chat, but also entertainment services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, which he said Nintendo "recognizes are important for a device you can take with you". "What we're working through is, 'okay, what's going to be the best way to make that happen, to make that available?'" The 43-second trailer did not reveal much about the gameplay details, except that it is "in development for Nintendo Switch". We have a hunch that Nintendo will implement cloud saves sometime in the future, especially with how popular and well-received the Switch has been. Nintendo has clearly learned its lessons from the Wii U by scheduling a big game on the Switch nearly every single month until the end of the year, but imagine if all the developers making games for the 3DS were making Switch games instead? We believe our IP is world class. It allows us to create really fun games that families can enjoy that are family safe.

Another problem on the Nintendo Switch is the absence of file management and backing up data.

"The way we continue to make Nintendo 3DS vibrant as a platform is first we continue to innovate from form factor standpoint", Reggie explained in the interview.

"It's everything from not only how is it going to work but it's also how we do this in a way that doesn't lend itself to piracy or systems or our core software infrastructure that can be modded or hacked", Fils-Aime told Mashable. However, whether or not changes will be made accordingly, remains to be seen.
