"Fantastic Four" and "Whiplash" star Miles Teller was arrested in San Diego early Sunday and charged with public intoxication.

A police officer reportedly noticed that Miles was having difficulty standing on a sidewalk after partying with friends.

Teller was out with several other men shortly after midnight on Sunday when the group was approached by an officer.

He was eventually taken to the centre against his wishes, but was ultimately rejected by staff because he reportedly couldn't follow directions. Police later confirmed Teller was not to blame for the crash, insisting the other driver cut him off.

Instead of arresting the uncooperative actor, cops took him to the detox center anyway hoping he'd be obedient.

At the time of the accident, Miles and his girlfriend took to Twitter to release a short update on their wellbeing.

It was then that the police officers made a decision to arrest the actor, and he was placed in jail for four hours and was later released without bail.

PEOPLE reached out to his rep for comment and did not immediately hear back.
