Seattle Police Department on Monday released an audio file in connection with the fatal shooting of Charleena Lyles, a pregnant mother of three who called police to report a burglary at her home on Sunday.

The four-minute audio from Sunday's incident opens with the two officers conversing en route to Lyles' apartment about a separate event, two weeks before, in which Lyle was arrested for threatening responding police with a pair of scissors.

The audio file, from police vehicle dashcam, captured the interactions between the two officers involved and Lyles during the last moments of her life. Her sister, Monika Williams, said that it should have been easy for the two officers. Police say the children were not injured.

The woman, identified by family members as Charleena Lyles, is said to have battled mental illness over the last year and previously feared that her children, one of whom had Down Syndrome, would be taken away.

During a tense standoff with officers, two of whom had weapons drawn, the woman told police they were 'devils and also members of the KKK'.

"Why couldn't they have Tased her?" she asked.

Trump appears to confirm he is under investigation
If Rosenstein recuses himself, Brand, a Trump appointee, would become the top Justice official overseeing Mueller's work. The President tweeted Friday that he was under "investigation", which he called a " witch hunt " in another tweet.

Lyles' brother, Domico Jones, told the Seattle Times that the apartment management wanted Lyles out of the housing complex. "If worse came to worse, you'd use a Taser instead of a gun for someone that has three kids inside of her house". Moments later, officers started yelling "get back, get back" before the sound of gunfire.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray called the situation a "tragedy for all involved" in a statement Sunday afternoon.

The officers who killed Lyles are on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues. "The officers immediately performed first aid while the Seattle Fire Department responded, but the fire department declared the woman deceased once they arrived", the Seattle police said. Additionally, the King County Prosecutors' Office will investigate the shooting and will most likely call for a coroner's examination. This will be fully investigated.

The officers can be heard talking to Lyles about the burglary on the audio recording of the incident. "They are unharmed, they are being taken care of right now", he said. Our historic police reforms, from de-escalation training to civilian-monitored force review, are in place to address such crises. But what the police are not stating is the fact that the Seattle Police Department is under a federal consent decree because of its questionable use of excessive force.

Lyles' two sons and daughter were inside the home when police fired off rounds at their mother.

The Blotter posting indicates that "both officers were equipped with less lethal force options, per department policy".
