Rick Perry urges more conversation about the unsettled science of climate change

After several reporters grilled him on climate change, Perry spoke about the importance of expanding nuclear energy to reduce emissions.

NBC reporter Peter Alexander brought up the remarks that Perry, then a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, made in July of 2015, shortly after Trump launched his bid for the White House.

Trump has so far issued executive orders aimed at promoting fossil fuels, but debates over energy policy are destined to be components of bigger fights such as tax reform or infrastructure.

That position places the oil and gas lobbying giants firmly on the side of the renewable energy industry, which has expressed concern Perry's study is nothing more than an attempt to prop up the coal sector - a favorite of President Trump's - at the expense of what is now a years long boom in wind and solar installations. "On my watch I intend to change that, working together to find the solution to those challenges", he said.

U.S. plans to export more liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India and is negotiating for a higher price, Trump said in a separate press remark.

At the EIA conference in Washington on June 26-27, the energy administration said that "since the start up of the Sabine Pass facility, more than 140 cargoes have been loaded and delivered to 23 countries". And more importantly, what is the United States going to do to affect that?

"And we've done this through innovation and technology, not by signing agreements", he said.

India already has long-term gas import deal with US.

"We're trying to absorb and digest" what dominance is, she said.

Honorable, who has announced this will be her last week as a FERC commissioner, noted that according to the EIA, natural gas in 2016 accounted for more of the nation's energy production that coal. We like them. We had an embassy in Paris.

He was also emphatic in his support for nuclear power, pointing to France as a nation that relies on the energy source for a majority of its power.

"Your review offers an opportunity to better understand the impacts these policy decisions have had, not only on our industries, but also on the grid itself", the groups said.

Traditional sources of electricity, such as coal and nuclear, have always been considered the most reliable forms of electricity generation. Renewable backers and many analysts dispute that contention and have told the agency as much. That has given natural gas plants a decided advantage over coal and nuclear, which can not as easily be taken off line and restarted.

An effort like that might run into problems on Capitol Hill, where lawmakers have raised objections to the study.

He told Kernen that carbon emissions are not the primary cause for climate change.

Sen. Chuck GrassleyChuck GrassleyGrassley: Why hasn't acting Federal Bureau of Investigation chief recused himself on Flynn?

However, Perry said he wants to eliminate policies that give preference to any one source of energy.

So, it will be interesting to see how that new Energy Department grid study turns out.

"I believe no clean energy portfolio is truly complete without nuclear power, and so does the President", he said, calling for the development of advanced nuclear reactors and small modular nuclear reactors.
