As of Wednesday, 4:44 is certified platinum, signifying it has sold (technically streamed) at least 1 million copies.

If you missed your chance on Sunday, here's how you can download "4:44" now: Go to 444.tidal.com and enter the voucher code "SPRINT" along with an email address. Earlier this week, it became available to all Tidal users, with a physical release on the way. "Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career", said the very white and not particualrly hip RIAA chief Cary Sherman pictured above with not particularly happy Jay-Z.

Those album downloads - which were free to the consumer but purchased by a company (Sprint) for distribution - were counted towards the platinum certification.

Snoop Dogg is sharing how he listened to JAY-Z's new album without having Tidal! The RIAA also notes that while some might see this business model as a certification loophole, it wasn't totally corporate.

Hov's sales achievement makes him the only artist to have 13 platinum-selling albums in RIAA history.

It hasn't been one week since Jay-Z released his new album, 4.44 and it has already been certified platinum. According to the RIAA's criteria, "1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams" equals a single "unit" toward an album's status, which means a whole lot of people have been jamming to Jay on Tidal.
