Questions remain about the circumstances that lead to Damond's death, especially because the officers who shot her had their body cams turned off at the time.

"My mom's dead because a police officer shot her for reasons I don't know", the newspaper quoted him as saying.

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges said, "I'm sad, disturbed, and looking for more answers, like many of you", including as to why the police body cameras were not on.

Ms Damond's death from a police gun has also generated widespread media coverage across the US.
Officer Noor and his partner's body cameras were not turned on and their police auto dashboard camera did not capture the incident. Monday morning, Zach Damond spoke to Fox 9, sharing his message for the officer who shot his stepmother.

Authorities have not released the woman's name and are waiting to notify her relatives in Australia.

Minneapolis Police Department lists a number of situations where officers are required to activate their body cameras, like performing traffic stops, searches, observing crime, and getting into verbal or physical confrontations.

Her stepson, 22-year-old Zac Damond, criticized what he described as a lack of transparency from the Minneapolis Police Department about the investigation.

Zach Damond, son of the woman's fiancé, Don Damond, addressed the shooting in a live Facebook video Sunday afternoon.

"A woman should not call for help and end up murdered", she said.

Justine Damond ran her meditation workshops at the Lake Harriet Spiritual Community, which paid tribute in a Facebook post.

Justine Damond's birth name was "Ruszczyk" but she had already taken the last name of her fiance, Don Damond, 50.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said he expects to receive the BCA findings, once completed, to determine whether either officer should be charged in Damond's death.

Ms Damond called police just before midnight on Saturday after hearing a possible assault taking place in an alley behind her home and was in her pyjamas when she approached Noor's police vehicle.

Local residents held a vigil over the weekend where hundreds gathered to remember the woman and call for police reform, KSTP reports.

Hodges said there are "few facts" available to the public at this point, and she called on BCA investigators to share as much information as they can as quickly as they can.

Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed that a citizen of the country had been killed, but declined to identify her until her family had been notified, according to a statement obtained by HuffPost Australia.

"I'm so done with all this violence", he said.

"She was committed to love and the relationship that was there for her".

The friend told The Star Tribune the woman worked as "a spiritual healer", remembering her as "the most loving woman".

You might not know that Disney also made the book into a TV film back in 2003 (though it wasn't broadcast until 2004). That does give you plenty of time to read the original work, which is still a best-seller on Amazon ($5 at Amazon).
