Lim, a 62-year-old South Korean-born Canadian citizen, was convicted and sentenced in 2015 for allegedly trying to use religion to destroy the North Korean system and helping US and South Korean authorities lure and abduct North Korean citizens. It is a grave threat.

Freeland's remarks came as Trump delivered another warning to Pyongyang that the USA military is "locked and loaded" if the regime acts unwisely.

"We are also very clear that we stand by all of our allies, very much including the United States".

Freeland said Canada is "working with our global partners to seek a resolution, a de-escalation" in the situation.

"What North Korea is doing is absolutely unacceptable, and is posing an unacceptable security threat both in the region and to the entire world", Ms. Freeland said Friday in Edmonton, after a meeting with agriculture groups in the lead-up to next week's North American free-trade talks. "We need to find ways to pressure and persuade North Korea that the path that it is on. can have no positive ending".

Freeland expressed relief at the release of Canadian pastor Hyeong Soo Lim, who was serving a life sentence in North Korea for anti-state activities.

Huddersfield captain Tommy Smith insists they can handle Premier League life
Huddersfield Town's last top-flight match was in April 1972 and also away at Crystal Palace , a 0-0 draw. Huddersfield has a good manager but they lack skills on the pitch and that could cost them this season.

Mr. Trudeau so far has said only that he is "pleased and relieved" about Mr. Lim's release, declining to go into detail, citing operational security considerations.

"There were a lot of calls, a lot of visits to Ottawa, a lot of back and forth between two different governments", James Lim said. "That is a very separate and distinct issue".

The congregation of one of Canada's largest churches welcomed their former pastor home on Sunday, the day after his return from North Korea, where he had been imprisoned for more than 2 1/2 years.

Lim, a pastor with the Light Korean Presbyterian Church in Mississauga, Ont., was involved in humanitarian projects in North Korea.

At least three Americans and six South Koreans remain in custody in the North.

The missionary finally returned home on Saturday, with his captors citing clemency on medical grounds.
