Kane can be Tottenham's Batistuta - Pochettino

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Jamie Redknapp has joked that Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane consciously decides never to score in August, to give striking rivals a head start.

After taking seven points from a potential 12, Spurs find themselves fifth in the league, just three points behind leaders Manchester United.

Spurs reached the quarter-finals on their first foray into the Champions League, seven years ago, but last season's experience under Pochettino ended in failure with Spurs unable to emerge from a group containing Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen.

With Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier and Fernando Llorente arriving in the final days of the window, Kane believes they finally have the squad to go one better after finishing behind champions Chelsea last season.

"We need to get this game behind us and the best way to do it is to play another one", said the England centre-back.

"I was startled to hear Koeman say his team were 'too nice" in the 3-0 defeat by Tottenham, ' Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column.

The north Londoners ran out comprehensive 3-0 winners at Goodison Park on Saturday thanks to an inspired performance from striker Harry Kane. "What you have had is teams spending money, buying big players and big names". We have got the players that we wanted and now we have got a good squad, a bulky squad.

Harry Kane registered his 100th - and then 101st - goals for Spurs in an eye catching display that saw Pochettino's men dominant through out. We didn't do great a year ago. "Come the business end in the second half of the season, we are normally thereabouts fighting for the title".

"All the individual records are good but you want to try and win club trophies, win the Premier League and the FA Cup". I hope next time it will be in, but the most important thing was to have a good game.
