U California Sues Trump Over DACA Repeal

Senate GOP whip No vote on stand-alone bill for 'Dreamers' Greg Nash

President Donald Trump's reversal of the Obama-era executive order protecting young undocumented immigrants from deportation has sparked debate in the Bloomington-Normal community. But Democrats may have to accept them to help the dreamers.

Pedraza commended Slatery for stepping back from the suit yet still said that Tennessee should take more concrete action in helping undocumented students, such as giving them financial aid to them as they pay out-of-state tuition.

"It's disappointing, and it's just wrong at many levels", says Janet Napolitano, president of the University of California system.

In their complaint, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of NY, the states claimed that rescinding DACA violated constitutional guarantees of due process and statutory administrative process mandates, resulting in economic hardships for the program's recipients and, by extension, the states where they reside. This is about whether we are a people who kick hopeful young strivers out of America, or whether we treat them the way we'd want our own kids to be treated.

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis cites research from both the left-leaning Center for American Progress and the conservative Cato Institute, which estimate that gradually deporting immigrants protected under DACA could cost the country billions in Gross Domestic Product.

They also must have been 30 or younger when the program was launched and brought to the US before age 16. So the reaction from higher ed is not surprising. Those already approved for DACA and who possess a work permit that expires after March 5, 2018 are no longer eligible to file an application for renewal.

There are some bills on the table that could gain steam for a DACA replacement, and some lawmakers are in favor of passing the Dream Act of 2017 that has been getting worked on for years.

"They don't even speak Spanish anymore", he said. "Nobody for sure knows what their options are".

Western has provided a world-class education since the University opened its doors on September 23, 1902, and we will continue to provide that quality educational experience for all students, regardless of their backgrounds.

"Basically, it means that individuals who now have DACA can keep (it) until it naturally expires", Alvarez said.

This means students in your classes are Dreamers, young adults who are American in every way. They numbered in the thousands. "Should they just keep holding it off until later, they're affecting all 320 plus million of us USA citizens and undocumented USA citizens".
