Everyone knows the Red Cross in Woodward shows up when disaster strikes.

The Northern Nevada branch of the Red Cross has dozens of volunteers already deployed for Hurricane Harvey relief in Texas, so now they are diverting some of those to Florida.

Trish Smitson of the Cincinnati-Dayton Red Cross said they'll be sending down one of the teams.

"Many of them were actually rescued from the flood waters by the first responders, and it was a scary episode for them", said Wallace.

"This hotel we're staying at in Orlando is packed to the gills".

"We've always found the people of northwest OH and southeast MI to be extremely generous and supportive", he said. They added National Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster, Hurricane Recovery Volunteer Registry and NOVAD are also looking for volunteers.

Friday night 1,185 people sought refuge in 13 evacuation centers in Georgia. Red Cross was given a mission and stepped up with a response 3x what the state was asking for. "So a lot of work had to be done in Houston", said volunteer Bob Wallace.

Once assigned to a task, volunteers must be available to leave within 48 hours, according to the Red Cross.

"Ninety-one cents out of every dollar goes straight to humanitarian aid", White said.

"The need for monetary donations supersedes the clothing and the food at this time, simply for the fact that cause we don't have capacity to ship the items down in a safe manner", he said. Delta will match donations up to 10 million miles.
