"Another attack in London by a loser terrorist", the President tweeted, hours after an improvised explosive device detonated in the London subway system on Friday.

"Another attack in London by a loser terrorist", Trump said in a series of early morning tweets. "Must be proactive!" he first tweeted in response.

Mr. Trump also tweeted that his administration had already "made more progress" against the Islamic State than President Barack Obama's administration had in eight years.

He did not immediately offer condolences to the British people.

Trump, speaking at the White House later Friday morning, called the attack a "terrible thing".

"Meaning, he was saying generally, terrorists are a focus for Scotland Yard?".

In May, British Prime Minister Theresa May protested to Trump after USA officials leaked information about a deadly bombing in Manchester.

The extremist group agreed to evacuate territory, for the first time, from a district on the Syria-Lebanon border on August 28. The Syrian army and its allies recently broke an Islamic State siege of an enclave in Deir al-Zor that had lasted three years.

In his fourth and - so far - final post, Trump said his "proactive and nasty" approach had allowed the United States to make "more progress in the last nine months against ISIS than the Obama Administration has made in eight years".

Police are conducting a manhunt for the main suspect, yet to be named, in the attack. Unlike the previous four attacks, there were no deaths as the result of the bombing; 19 people were transported from the site to three different hospitals, while an additional four individuals volunteered to go to the hospital, but none were described to have life-threatening injuries.

Photos are also circulating on Twitter of a white bucket that appears to have partially exploded but there is no official confirmation that this was linked to the incident at the station.

The Supreme Court this week allowed the Trump administration to maintain its ban on refugees.

Police said the explosion was a terrorist attack, the fifth in Britain this year.

Downing Street tweeted a message from Prime Minister Theresa May, in which she said "My thoughts are with those injured at Parsons Green and emergency services who are responding bravely to this terrorist incident".

There was talk earlier this year of suspending transatlantic security briefings after details of the investigation into the bombing of an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, northern England, which killed 22 people, were leaked to the media by US authorities. "It keeps going and going, and we have to be very smart and we have to be very, very tough-perhaps we're not almost tough enough". Richard Aylmer-Hall said he saw several people injured, apparently trampled as they fled.
