ZTE's sub-brand, Nubia, announced the launch of its Z17miniS at an event in Shenzhen yesterday.

The Nubia Z17 was launched in Q2, with it being the first Android device to feature 8 GB of RAM, and the Mini S makes for a cheaper option in the same vein.

Even though that sound a bit ridiculous, but I guess everyone is entitled to their own perspectives, even if they are irrational. The rear setup comes with a 12MP + 23MP combination while the front facing cameras are a pair of dual 5MP sensors. Under the hood, the device has a 3100mAh battery which can charge up to 50% in just 25 minutes.

The Nubia Z17S with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at CNY 2,999 (about Rs. 29,617) in China, while the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at CNY 3,999 (about Rs. 39,499). The device is equipped with a 5.73-inch LTPS 18:9 aspect ratio display with FHD+ 1080x2040p resolution. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device.

Let's start with the most affordable of the lot, the Nubia Z17 miniS. Both the smartphones feature on-screen navigation buttons and a fingerprint scanner for biometric security (Rear-mounted fingerprint scanner on the Nubia Z17S model and Front-mounted fingerprint scanner on the Nubia Z17 miniS model).

The device is powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset with Adreno 540 GPU and 6GB/8GB RAM.

Available in Black Gold, Deep Blue, and Aegean Blue colors, the Nubia Z17 miniS will go on sale in China on October 19th for a price of CNY2,099 ($318). It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and comes with the company's custom user interface: Nubia UI 5.1. Upfront, we have two 5MP lenses with f/2.2 aperture. The battery can be fast-charged with 26W. Available for 1999 yuan (approx Rs 19,735), the handset is up for pre-order in China starting today.

In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM-supported Nubia Z17 miniS offers 4G voLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz & 5.0GHz), Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS/A-GPS/Glonass, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-Type C port for superfast charging and other.
