However, soon her bosses called her into a meeting and informed her that she had violated company's social media policy by posting the photo as her profile picture on Facebook and Twitter.

Briskman told the site she made a decision to tell her employer (Akima LLC, a government contractor) about going viral the Monday after it unexpectedly happened to give them a heads up.

She is now working with attorneys at the American Civil Liberties Union. "So they were calling flipping him off 'obscene.'" Briskman was part of the company's marking and communications department for more than six months.

"I flipped off the motorcade a number of times", she admitted before adding: "I'd do it again". Within days, they fired her, Briskman told HuffPost. According to Bethesda lawyer Bradley Shear, her honesty is what cost her her employment.

"They said, "We're separating from you, '" said Briskman".

She described her position at the firm in her Linked In profile, where she identifies herself as a marketing specialist.

Her employer, a government contractor, didn't appreciate her personal politics and let her go over the incident.

Some said that the firing was justified because it was not directly related to her flipping off the president of the United States but rather that she used the image, which showed an obscene gesture on social media. During this work, Briskman found a senior company director discussing the Black Lives Matter movement.

Asked what she was thinking when she saw Trump's motorcade roll up next to her, Briskman said it was a gut reaction to flip him off. She was feeling much like many other Americans who are frustrated with Trump's behavior and the way he has performed as president.

Then, as the motorcade stopped, bisecting her usual route, she changed her route, and punctuated the final insult with another one-fingered salute.

Briskman, however, has no regrets about her gesture. She was thinking about the devastation in Puerto Rico, about the carnage of last month's mass-shooting in Las Vegas, and about deportations.

Her now-former employer Akima LLC caught wind of her Facebook cover photo update and chose to fire her.

As for why she got so enraged, Briskman said that even she was surprised, while explaining the limited extent of her activism prior to motorcadegate.

"I'd do it again", Briskman told The Washington Post.
